Critical Funding Opportunity for Advancing Clean Public Transit in the U.S. - Low or No Emission Grant
In this episode, we spotlight a transformative opportunity for the future of American public transportation. The U.S. Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has released its FY2025 Notice of Funding Opportunity—unlocking over $1.1 billion in competitive grants to fast-track zero- and low-emission bus adoption and modernize transit infrastructure nationwide.
Join Eduardo Espinal from ZeroMission as he breaks down the two key funding streams:
- The Low or No Emission Grant Program: Supporting clean bus fleets and essential infrastructure.
- The Grants for Buses and Bus Facilities Competitive Program: Fueling new builds and upgrades across all propulsion types.
With high demand expected, Eduardo shares why it's critical to act fast—and how ZeroMission’s digital twin technology can help transit agencies and local governments build stronger, data-backed applications. From workforce development to infrastructure planning, discover how to navigate this funding round with confidence and impact.

Critical Funding Opportunity for Advancing Clean Public Transit in the U.S.
Hey, everyone. Here to share some important news that holds great value and a lot of potential for the future of the public transportation across our nation. The US Federal Transit Administration, or FTA, has officially released its fiscal year 2025 notice of funding opportunity, making over 1.1 billion in competitive grant funding available. This substantial investment is specifically designed to accelerate the adoption of clean, modern, efficient public transit.
The funding's allocated across two key programs: the Low or No Emission Grant Program, which provides $1.1 billion dedicated to the purchase or lease of zero and low-emission buses, along with essential infrastructure like charging stations. This program also mandates that 5% of zero emission grant funding be dedicated to workforce development. Additionally, the Grants for Buses and Bus Facilities Competitive Program, which offers $398 million for the rehab or new construction of bus facilities and the procurement of buses regardless of propulsion type.
Now, the application period is now open, but it has a firm deadline. This presents a vital opportunity for transit authorities, local governments, and federally recognized tribal entities to secure capital for their initiatives. We are committed to your success, and we understand. And looking at the data from 2024, there was a lot of demand for these grants with applications far ex- exceeding the available funds.
So this highlights a clear industry need for str- strategic scalable solutions to meet the goals. At Zero Emission, we understand these complexities and are committed to helping our partners, you, navigate this landscape effectively. Our advanced digital twin technology is designed to support you by modeling, de-risking, and accelerating your transition to electric and hydrogen-powered mobility. We can help strategically plan your fleet's future and strengthen your grant applications by integrating our robust simulations and analytics into your zero emission fleet transition plans.
So this funding opportunity is truly transformative, right? But please connect with us. My team and I at Zero Emission are here to serve your, as your dedicated partner throughout this process. We invite you to connect with us, discuss your s- your specific needs and how we can support your success in securing this pivotal funding.
